Randy & TAP-J Slung payload oscillation suppression
The payload was suspended from the helicopter by a 40m rope, and the helicopter flew in a zigzag pattern to deliberately cause the payload to swing in a pendulum. By turning on the vibration suppression function, the swing was quickly eliminated, and the payload was able to touch down just a few centimeters from the target position, drawing cheers. The pink ribbon was to prevent the payload from rotating during flight.
Randy & Tridge ModalAI Starling 2
Randy and Tridge demonstrated automated circle mode flight indoors using a ModalAI Starling 2 MAX aircraft with ArduPilot installed on a VOXL2 flight controller, which integrates ModalAI’s depth tracking camera, flight controller, and companion computer all on a single board.
Drone Japan Indoor Auto with ModalAI Voxl
Automatic navigation of indoor space with a drone equipped with Modal AI Voxl1. Instead of GPS, Voxl1 data is input into EKF to perform self-location estimation. (Height is measured using a barometer) Qground Control is modified to incorporate a scaled indoor map (in this case, a 5m x 5m mesh image), and a waypoint is placed on the screen to perform automatic flight.
Michelle Ros Mini copter (Sub 100g)
An FPV flight demo was conducted using a micro drone weighing less than 100g using ArduPilot.
Although it is a small drone, it is equipped with an HDZERO VTX, and smooth piloting was demonstrated while viewing low-latency, high-resolution digital FPV images through goggles.
Fujikawa Mini copter (Sub 100g)
A demonstration was given of an aircraft weighing less than 100g equipped with two FPV cameras, one small thermal and one visible, which could be switched between with an RC switch. This function makes it possible to fly a small aircraft in dark places and search for missing people.
In Japan, aircraft weighing more than 100g require registration and a flight application, so they cannot be flown easily. In response, the importance of aircraft weighing less than 100g was emphasized in order to lower the hurdle for ArduPilot beginners.
Thomas Mini copter (Sub 100g)
A flight demo was conducted on the M5 StampFly with ArduPilot built for ESP32 installed. A game controller connected via QGroundControl on a smartphone was used for control, and it was demonstrated that very stable flight was possible. QGroundControl made it possible to check the aircraft’s attitude, flight mode, and battery status.
Miwa Ducted fan boat
The boat-shaped drone was powered by two ducted fans, one main and one sub. The base and the drone were connected to a network, and information was shared smoothly. Despite strong winds and rough seas, it could be moved back and forth freely, and even when the destination was canceled and the driving point changed, it still worked without any problems. It had enough battery power and was able to continue driving for about three laps.
Miwa Twin Turbo Fan Copter
The tall, compact wooden drone began flying at a height of about one meter from the person’s hand, and using two ducted fans and a two-dimensional thrust vectoring nozzle to maintain balance, flew up, down, left and right, before successfully landing.
